Barrell Craft Spirits - Armida (Bourbon Whiskey) (750ml)

Barrell's ambitious finishing project is one good thing to come out of 2020! A mere 3,700 bottles were released in October, making this three-finish anomaly even more of a rarity. Three individual straight Bourbons are finished separately in casks that previously held pear brandy, Jamaican rum, and Sicilian amaro, blended, and then bottled at 112.1 proof. Their hunt for the ideal balance of flavors has clearly paid off. Incredibly aromatic, its nose revolves between pear drop, vanilla flower, pale caramel, and dried leaves. The palate also shows pear, alongside mixed berries, clove and anise, singed sugar, and Chinese five spice, wrapped in a sense of tropical fruit. Something truly original, and a delight for anyone looking to see what's next on the Bourbon horizon. Sip neat, and add rocks or a few drops of water for lighter, maple- and autumn-forward flavors.
