La Venenosa Raicilla - Tabernas (750ml)

Raicilla is an agave spirit that has been produced for over 500 years in the Mexican state of Jalisco, the same state where tequila comes from. However, tequila can only be made with blue agave, while Raicilla can be made from any variety. This allows for an opportunity to experience a larger spectrum of flavors. Tabernas is made with the Maximiliana variety. This will please any tequila lover, while being just different enough to offer a nice twist. It might also appeal to mezcal aficionados, although it does not have the smokey character of most mezcal. The agave really shines here; it’s very clear and pure with a refreshing undertone of wet clay. The price point is attractive enough to make this a sound choice for cocktails, but frankly we find this one to really shine on its own, lightly cooled with a very small ice cube.
