Ricasoli is one of the most ancient and renowned families in all of Chianti, with a history going back to Charlemagne, and a tradition of winemaking going back to 1141.
This flagship reserve hails from a small parcel on the historic estate: about 10 hectares with an ideal southeastern exposure, sandy marine soil over clay, some 320 meters above sea level. 100% Sangiovese, and completely hand-harvested, with only the perfect clusters selected. Fruit is destemmed, fermented in stainless steel, and then patiently aged for 18 months in large tonneau.
Distinctively floral and fresh with notes of hibiscus, and violet, tea, bergamot, orange peel, tobacco and loam. The palate is focused and fruity, with intense acidity and well-defined minerality; the tannins are extremely fine. A pure Sangiovese that reveals all the magnificent qualities of this grape.
